HILLSBORO, Oregon, USA -- David Higgins, in the AV Sport Subaru, took overall honors with a win at the Oregon Trail Rally. David, with new co-driver Chris Patterson, finished with a 44-second lead over second place finisher Rhys Millen. The win was David’s second of the SCCA ProRally Championship, giving him an unofficial lead in the point standings with 45.
"I am delighted to have won this rally and to be leading the series," remarked Higgins. "Our two wins should provide an excellent opportunity to challenge for the championship."
David and the AV Sport crew were able to overcome a problem with the gearbox after the final stage of day one and, with the hard work of the crew, the repair held through the final stages and gave David the opportunity to finish with the win.
The AV Sport Subaru was again more than a match for the factory cars and team boss Andy Brown was delighted with the result. "We are pleased to have followed up our win in Tennessee with a victory here in Oregon. Our team had to work extremely hard this weekend and, with a test planned prior to the next event in California, we are hoping to make some more improvements to the car."
Next up is the Rim of the World Rally in California.
