SIERRA RALLYSPORTS TEAM READY TO START THE NEW SEASON.

ZEELAND, MICHIGAN -- Sierra RallySports is off to the land of the ice and snow for the first round of the SCCA ProRally 2001 Championship season. Competing in the SnoDrift ProRally based out of Atlanta, Michigan. This will be only the second time that the teams new car, a 1991 Volkswagen Golf Gti has rallied. The jet-black car wearing the team's traditional number 555 has had many modifications since last years SnoDrift, were Colin and Jeff finished 21st overall, and 4th in the "sno" divisional for Midwestern-based teams.

"The car has a totally different feel than last year," said driver Colin McCleery, commenting on the changing of the entire suspension system. The Sierra RallySports team competes in Group 5, for two-wheel cars of over 2.4 litres, And even though the Gti can actually run in a class for smaller motors, the team accepts the challenge of bigger, more powerful cars and relies on their experience and smooth driving skills.

The team will of course stay with their proven tire choice, Nokian. Nokian manufactures some of the world's finest tires, and especially snow tires. Having their start in Finland where snow and ice covered roads a the norm even on the highways, Nokian has certainly done their homework to design a tire with the best compound and tread pattern in order to make diving on snow and ice as safe as possible.

The SnoDrift ProRally is a 12-hour, 250-mile test of the best ralliests in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Running in the icy conditions of Northern lower Michigan, Skill of the team not to make any mistakes is crucial, at rally speeds the snowbanks become as hard as rocks. This year's event again has a full field of 60 cars.
