Jagged Edge Announces Plans

Grass Valley, CA -- The Jagged Edge Motor sports team of Driver Sans Thompson and Co-Driver Craig Marr, based in Grass Valley, California, today announced their plans to campaign a Production Class Neon in the Rally America National Championship series.

The car will be a Dodge Neon which was driven by Don Jankowski at the first event in January to a first place finish. The first race for the team will be in Portland and Hillsboro, Oregon, April 22-24 2005.

"We are very excited to have finally put this program together for the 2005 Championship series," states Sans, "it has taken several months of work and effort to get this finalized. Our goal is to run the rest of the Rally America Championship with the 2005 Production Class Championship the target for the end of the year."

The Rally America National Championship was established in January 2005 when the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) decided to withdraw its sanctioning agreement for rally racing in the United States. Rally America is a privately held company based in Minnesota. Rally racing began in the United States in the late 60’s and the Rally America series is a continuation of that long running series.

"With the changing of the sanctioning bodies this year it left us without a major sponsor for 2005 and we expect a hard road ahead of us." says Sans, "but with the expected announcement of a full series TV package then maybe we can turn that around even at this late date. With the high cost of transporting the car from coast to coast several times it will be imperative to find a few advertising dollars somewhere along the line."

"Tom Laeng of Laeng Works in Hesperia, California will continue to maintain and service the car at the races for us," states team manager Karen Wagner. "He has done a great job for us the last few years and we feel its important that he stays with us for this championship run. Sans trusts him and they have good communication which is as important as anything else out there."

The Jagged Edge Motorsports schedule will take them to Pennsylvania, Colorado twice (once for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb), Maine, Minnesota, and Michigan. For schedule and times www.rally-america.com.

"I’m really looking forward to this season," says Sans, "I’m looking forward to having Craig, a past national champion and old friend, back in the car, a new and reliable car to drive, and what looks like a great series to run in, it should be a great year."
