Candia, New Hampshire -- Team Xtreme Focus is in final preparations for the upcoming Maine Forest ProRally held in Rumford Maine. This is a ProRally event, sanctioned by the SCCA.The organizers have won Best US ProRally event multiple times. It's also the event with the longest single stage in the entire US ProRally circuit. Truly an event that challenges every aspect of every team to the extreme.
"This is truly the only National level event that we can consider to be a local event for our team - We're very excited to have the opportunity to participate, and especially so, being supported by New England Ford Dealers Association...It is thanks to this organization, that Ford has the only Production class SVT Focus running in the series. Additionally, I'd like to thank John Sawyer from Portsmouth Ford for helping the team in any as many way's as he has been able to." - was driver/owner Vittorio Bares first comment.
The team recently competed in the Canadian National Baie De Chaleurs rally, with excellent results, finishing 1st in Production (P3) class and 1st 2-wheel drive. "The Ford Focus SVT is beginning to show its potential. It's a durable strong car with great handling characteristics - and to think this one is in Production dress - just buy one at the show room, put a Vermont Sports Car cage in and some suspension on it - and be competitive out of the box! Its truly awesome" - said navigator/and chief mechanic Forest Fyrberg.
After a scary moment at Baie De Chaleaurs, where they broke the oil pan - a potentially race ending event - The team has employed the experience and knowledge of Jordan Hicks owner of Carbon Dreams to develop a superior skid plate solution for the team. Carbon Dreams come from a history of making high performance Carbon, Kevlar and Carbon/Kevlar mixed components for the boating industry. Jordan is currently driving the company towards specializing in high performance suspension and protection components for the Rally community. Currently, Carbon Dreams is developing a skid plate for Team XtremeFocus that will mate an aluminum skid plate with uni-directional Carbon/Kevlar material " with multi-directional layering. "We believe this will give superior rigidity to the application without adding undue weight" commented Jordan.
There will be nearly 100 cars competing this year between National competitors and Club competitors - Probably the greatest gathering of Rally talent in the country. Vittorio expressed his gratitude to the many behind the scenes,"We are lucky to have the opportunity to compete here and owe a lot to Tim O'Neil for the skills he's taught us and encouragement given - There was a time, I call it BT (Before Tim), where my confidence sideways at speed was 50% what it is today - Tim's methodical approach to teaching left foot braking techniques is invaluable to any current or aspiring driver. It's going to be an exciting race and as with any type of racing - most teams wouldn't be competing if not for a list of people in the background supporting the team. We'd like to thank our sponsors for their current and on-going support:"
