Bangor, Maine, USA -- Maine based Last Ditch Racing is pushing the envelope once again by attending the Pacific Forest Rally October 13-14 in Merritt, British Columbia.
More than 3,000 miles from LDR world headquarters in Bangor, Maine, Pacific Forest is Round 5 of the 2005 Canadian Rally Championship. The event will see the team completing a 400km. total distance, 165km. being special stages.
Currently third overall in the 2005 Canadian Championship, 2005 has forced the team to work harder than ever. Said driver/owner John Cassidy, "We always knew that if we damaged our car significantly, it would be difficult to complete the season. We've been finding out just how difficult since Maine Forest Rally." Consistent as always, Cassidy and co-driver Dave Getchell have finished every Canadian event in the points.
The team damaged their trusty Subaru Impreza WRX, T-2, beyond repair at the Maine Forest Rally this summer and has had to rely on renting rides for the remaining events of the championship. They partnered with Quebec's Lachute Performance for the Rallye Defi. St. Agathe/ Duhamel. "We lost third gear on the final two stages, dropping us from what should have been a top 5 finish to 10th, the final points scoring position," said Cassidy.
The team is pleased to be partnering with Western Canada's own Rocket Rally Racing. Rocket Rally Racing is owned by Pat Richard, current US and Canadian champion and provides rally car preparation, tuning and parts.
Since usual LDR co-driver Getchell is unable to attend the event, former CARS champion co-driver Dave Shindle will be joining Cassidy in the right seat. "Dave has significant co-driving experience and has been to this event previously. I'm sure we'll settle in quickly and get to work setting quick times."
