Rocket Rally Racing heads to the Baie

VANCOUVER, BC -- Rocket Rally Racing is hoping for a strong showing at this weekend's Rallye Baie des Chaleurs. The event, round five of the Subaru Canadian Rally Championship presented by Yokohama, will be held July 6 to 8 on the southern coast of Quebec's Gaspe Peninsula. The team finished its last event, the Rocky Mountain Rally, first in its class and second overall.

"It will be hard to match our last performance, that's for sure. The level of competition at the Quebec rounds of the championship is always very high. But Subaru has prepared the car to exceptional standards, so as long as we don't make any mistakes, we should be in a good position for a strong finish," said Patrick Richard, Rocket Rally Driver. Richard drives a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX with co-driver Ian McCurdy as part of the three-car Subaru Canada Rally Team.

Regardless of this weekend's result, Richard and McCurdy expect to enjoy the weekend. Baie des Chaleurs always draws thousands of enthusiastic fans, who help to create a great racing atmosphere for the teams. "Rallye Baie des Chaleurs is known for its unique atmosphere in North American rallying. It's probably the most spectator-friendly event on the continent," said McCurdy.

Rocket Rally Racing and the Subaru Canada Rally Team are supported by OMP, DMS Shock Absorbers and Globalstar Communications. Rallye Baie des Chaleurs will be televised nationally several times on TSN (The Sports Network) and RDS (le reseau des sports) starting July 22 at 6 p.m. on RDS and July 29 at 6 p.m. on TSN.

Television Update: Rocky Mountain Rally will be broadcast for a third time this evening, July 4, on TSN at 10:30 p.m. Pacific time.
