Bangor, Maine, USA -- Last Ditch Racing, Maine's top rally team, heads to the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire this weekend for the inaugural Team O'Neil Rally.
The event will see Last Ditch Racing field both team cars. The 2003 Open Class Subaru WRX will be driven by John Cassidy and co-driven by Erik Lee. The 1995 Open Class Subaru Impreza will be driven by Dave Getchell and co-driven by Steve McKelvie.
Cassidy/Lee will start third on the road and Getchell/McKelvie will start tenth on the road in the field of 27. The team is expecting to be surprised at this event. Said driver John Cassidy, "We're all seeing this event for the first time. It's fairly short and the weather and temperature will no doubt play a large part in team's performance. Pace and tire choice are going to be the major challenges."
The team is pleased to be able to field both cars in support of the event. Said Cassidy, "Tim O'Neil has been instrumental in our rallying careers, as well as many of the other top drivers in North America and we're stoked to be there for him and the whole Team O'Neil crew. We were all cheering on Tim as he raced to a significant second place at the Lake Superior Pro Rally in Michigan last weekend. He's the man, and his performance spotlights his skill and maturity."
LDR has had mixed fortunes this year, primarily surrounding development issues with their new WRX. The team of Cassidy/Getchell have taken second in the top Open Class in the Canadian Rally Championship over the past two seasons. We had significant engine issues early in the season, affecting our performance at the first two events of 2006. We missed the third round after our car was misplaced by the transport company. With only 6 events in the championship, and 5 counting for points, we were too far behind the ball by mid-season to mount a serious challenge," said Cassidy. "We'd really like to go to New Hampshire and show our speed and have a good time. That will act as a springboard for our 2007 efforts."
From the event website: "October in Northern New Hampshire is one of the most beautiful times of the year and a perfect time for rallying. The event is headquartered in Dalton, NH outside of Littleton which is a classical New England town. The Team O'Neil Rally Center is the primary sponsor of the event and some of the stages actually run through the facility. There is approximately fifty five total stages miles and one hundred and ten total miles that the competitors will run."
Last Ditch Racing would like to thank their 2006 team partners for their continued support!
