Lancaster, California -- The Widget Rally Team is pleased to announce a partnership with the Inn of Lancaster for the Rim of the World Rally, May 7, 8 and 9, 2004. The Inn is offering a special Widget Rally Team promotional rate of $60 plus tax for all Rim of the World Rally guests, for both single and double rooms. Simply mention the Widget Rally Team and the Rim of the World Rally. Reservations can be made by calling 800.406.0466 and the hotel's web site is www.InnOfLancaster.com. They're located just two miles from the new Rim of the World headquarters venue, the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. For race fans flying in from other parts of the world, the Inn is near the Burbank and Los Angeles airports.
The Inn of Lancaster has long been associated with auto racing, but this is the first time they've become involved with rally, a motorsport involving "real cars racing on real roads, real fast." The Rim of the World Rally takes place on the rough fire roads of the Angeles National Forest.
Susan Brooks, General Manager for the Inn of Lancaster, announced "We're delighted to be a partner with the Widget Rally Team. As a leader in the hospitality business, it's natural that the Inn of Lancaster would want to partner with a leading, championship-winning rally team." The Widgets won back-to-back SCCA divisional championships as well as the 2002 California Rally Series titles for both driver and codriver. Most recently codriver John Dillon received the Kenneth Zimmerman award for "Outstanding contributions to the sport of rally."
Denise McMahon, Widget's Team Manager, made the arrangements after visiting several hotels in the area. "Susan and her staff are always so friendly and helpful. It's a pleasure to be affiliated with such a fine place."
John Dillon, the team's primary co-driver, has stayed at the Inn many times over the years. "I used to be the voice of 'Race Control' for events at Willow Springs several times each season, so I'd visit the Inn of Lancaster regularly. Racers and volunteer race workers all appreciated the hospitality and quality of the service received by the staff."
The Inn of Lancaster features the amenities needed for competitors and fans alike, including microwave ovens, refrigerators, VCRs (for watching rally videos at the end of the day), hair dryers, and coffee pots. Naturally a swimming pool is available for a refreshing dip at the end of a dusty day on the rally trail.
Perforce Software (www.perforce.com) provides financial support to the Widget Rally Team. The team is also supported by 7-24 AirX (www.7-24airx.com), a domestic and international trucking and air cargo company; Tombstone Paintball Park (www.tombstonepaintball.com); and Worr Games (www.worr.com), manufacturers of tournament-quality paintball guns. The team insists on brakes by Porterfield Enterprises (www.porterfield-brakes.com) and utilizes the web services of Shults Dot Com (www.shults.com) for its internet needs.
