Wellsboro, Pennsylvania -- Andrew Havas reunites with Scott Slingerland and crew chief Frank de Kat for this years running of the STPR. Eager to build on their success in Tennessee, the team will be busy today handling the normal logistics and final adjustments for competition in their second visit to the rally.
The Havspeed.com Mazda RX7H will face some stiff competition in class, as well as overall. Starting 22nd in a field of 90 cars, Andrew benefits from his recent uprating to seed 2 status. Starting positions 21-24 are filled with the Group 5 cars of Hourt, Havas, Otake, and Hurst, all STPR veterans. This diverse, but notoriously quick, 2 wheel drive group promises to deliver a great battle!
Still searching for a title sponsor, the team are looking forward to the event:
"We really enjoy being here in Wellsboro, and are looking forward to a great weekend. Forecasts are calling for rain, which won't dampen our enthusiasm" said Andrew. "Rain will eliminate the dust, and slippery stages will help level the playing field. It's going to be hard to follow up our 5th overall finish at Cherokee Trails, especially with the caliber of the international open class entries, but we will just run to our capabilities, enjoy the event and most importantly, put on a show for the fans!"
