Costa Mesa, California -- For the seventh straight year, Porterfield Enterprises will provide racing brakes for the Widget Rally Team. Porterfield, who in 2006 will be celebrating 20 years of service to its customers, has earned a solid reputation for quality, reliability, and dependability in all aspects of automotive motorsport. The Widget Rally Team is the 2004 U.S. national Open champion, competing in the sport of performance rally. In 2006, the team will once again compete for a national championship with Brian Scott (Phoenix, AZ) behind the wheel and John Dillon (Thousand Oaks, CA) navigating.
Porterfield Brakes, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, is a leading supplier of Performance Friction, Hawk, and Raybestos products. "We supply brakes to thousands of road racers and Solo II competitors," said Andy Porterfield. "When John first approached me, he offered us an opportunity to expand our market by moving into the rally sector. Since that time we've seen our rally business grow so we're happy to continue our partnership with the team."
By sponsoring Widget at rally events all across North America, Porterfield Brakes will receive plenty of exposure, not only for rally competitors, but for the multitude of fans who demand superior performance braking products.
"I can drive with confidence using brakes from Porterfield," said Scott. "I don't have to ask myself 'will they work this time?' so I can dive deeper into the corners before jumping on the binders."
The Widget Rally Team plans to campaign the full national season in the US Rally Championship (USRC) series. Thanks to Porterfield Brakes the team will have the stopping power they need to go faster.
About the Sport Rallying is the ultimate team motorsport where street-licensed cars are raced at high speed on dirt trails with two people in the car, a driver behind the wheel and a codriver describing every bend in the road. Competitors are not allowed to pre-run the roads so they are racing "blind," navigating from a route book provided just hours prior to the event. Cars can easily reach speeds above 100 MPH as they snake between trees and along the edges of cliffs in this sport of strength and stamina.
