Rocket Rally Racing Heads to California

VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Rocket Rally Racing will be in Palmdale, California this weekend for Rim of the World ProRally. Rim of the World is the third event in the 2000 SCCA ProRally Championship, and comes on the heels of the team's strong results at Oregon Trail ProRally in April. There, the team grabbed its first SCCA ProRally class win and finished 6th overall out of 52 cars.

"I expect competition to be a lot tougher at Rim. With all the strong open-class cars from Southern California, I'd be really pleased if we grabbed a Top 10 finish," says Pat Richard, Rocket Rally Driver. Keeping a steady pace will be key during this event, as the team has two back-to-back Canadian National events at the end of May. "If we push it and make a mistake, it could really hurt our Canadian season." Rocket Rally Racing is leading the Production GT standings in Canada. This is the team's first appearance at Rim, and Richard is the only Canadian driver registered for the event.

The roads at Rim of the World are notoriously gnarly, with deep depressions and many elevated culverts. The event is regarded by many as the toughest event in the SCCA series. "With the tight and twisty roads, and so much air time, the team will have an interesting time of it," said Dave Clark, Rocket Rally Crew Chief. "This'll be a great opportunity to test the superiority of the suspension from Drummond Motor Sport." Rocket Rally Racing is supported by Drummond Motor Sport, Specialty Subaru of North Vancouver and Dragon Eyewear.

Speedvision will televise Rim of the World several times, starting in mid-May. Check your local listings for details.

New Look
While Clark has been getting Rocket Rally Car ready on the inside, graphic designer Bruce Kaudel has been getting it ready on the outside. In conjunction with its branding efforts, the team will unveil the racecar's new graphics and paint scheme at this event. The new look got positive reactions from Canadian fans during a private promotional preview last weekend, and the team is looking forward to unveiling it at the largest media event on the SCCA ProRally calendar.

Photographer's Contingency Program
As part of its continuing Photographer's Contingency Program, the team will award prizes of $100, $50 and $25 (Cdn$), respectively, to the amateur photographers who send in the three best action photos of the car at this event.
