Rally America Named it's Champions Tonight

OLYMPIA, WA -- Overall and in the Open class, Subaru Rally Team USA's #199 Travis Pastrana and Christian Edstrom take the top honors. Claiming second in both Open and Overall is the Subaru Rally Team USA's Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino in car #43. And in third is Matt Iorio and Ole Holter in their #18 Subaru.

Also awarded to the Overall driver, Travis Pastrana, was the John Woolf Cup, and to the top Overall co-driver, Christian Edstrom the Grant Whitaker Cup.

Matthew Johnson and Kim DeMotte win the PGT class followed by Tanner Foust and Scott Crouch in second place and Eric Langbein and Jeremy Wimpey in third.

The Production class Championship has been won by Rally America Rookie of the Year "Cowboy" Kenny Bartram and his co-driver Dennis Hotson. As the top Production driver, Bartram was also awarded the Roy Donison cup. Second in Production was earned by Kathy Jarvis and Martin Headland and third by Mike Merbach and Jeff Feldt.

The Group 5 honors go to Bruce Davis and Jimmy Brandt followed by Cary Kendall and Scott Friberg in second and Jon Hamilton and Ken Sabo in third.

Driver David Anton and co-driver Dominik Jozwiak take the Group N win. In second place is Jonathan Bottoms and Carolyn Bosley, and in third, Andrew Pinker and Robbie Durant.

The Championship in Group 2 goes to Eric Duncan and Matt Duncan, while second place was won by Sans Thompson and Craig Marr. There is a tie for the third place driver; Daniel Cook, Chip Miller, Jon Nichols, and James Robinson all finished with 22 points. Also finishing in a tie were the third place co-drivers; William Rhodes, Andrew Jessup, Kathryn Hansen, Carl Schenk, and David Stone, all with 22 points.

At the end of the season, only one point separated the top two-wheel drive teams. With their finish here this weekend, Kenny Bartram and Dennis Hotson were able to claim the Woodner Cup, barely defeating Bruce Davis and Jimmy Brandt.

The Bill Bradshaw Award for lifetime contribution to the sport of rally has been awarded to Don Rathgeber, Chairman of the Sno Drift Rally and the XGames Rally.

Oregon Trail has been selected as the 2006 Rally America Rally of the Year. A new organizing group put on an excellent rally. They set new standards for enthusiasm and energy while putting on a technically challenging rally and staying on time.
