STACY, MN -- Mayhem Racing is pleased to announce that Brenda Corneliusen will be filling the co-driver's seat for its bid in the 2000 SCCA ProRally Championship. She will be replacing Diane Sargent who left the team after 1999 to pursue other opportunities. Brenda is no newcomer to the sport. Starting in 1994, she co-drove lead car with her brother Brett at Ojibwe Forests ProRally; she comes to Mayhem Racing after a season with Bob Nielsen. Corneliusen first joined Utecht at the 1998 Lake Superior ProRally where the duo had an outstanding finish.
Mayhem Racing also welcomes a new member to their crew starting in 2000. J.B. Lewis is a recent transplant from Columbus, Ohio and is probably best known for his services as a mechanic to Wayne and Annette Prochaska. He spent last season co-driving for J.B. Niday and has been an active part of the Solo2 program in the Ohio Valley Region of SCCA since 1991. He also spent two and a half years as crew for TDI Motorsports competing in IMSA's Firestone Firehawk series.
The last addition to the team this year is a new Dodge Omni that is being built after the sudden demise of Utecht's Dodge Omni Turbo at Ojibwe Forest ProRally last August. The old car, Bam-Bam, had many events under its belt and was slated for replacement anyway. "We are hoping to build on what we have learned from our first car," said Utecht. Look for a faster, stronger and lighter Mayhem Racing ProRally Omni debuting at SNO*DRIFT ProRally in January.
